Prof Ashwini Sharan will show various epilepsy surgeries including laser ablation, stereo encephlopgraphy, brain maping and Amygdalohippocampectomy. For the first time in India, MRI guided percutaneous laser ablation of hippocampus using the visualase system will be demonstrated. This is a state of art minimally invasive technique where laser ablation is performed under MRI guidance in OT through a small opening. The special device will also have a cooling system to prevent heat sink to prevent surrounding tissue. Prof Sharan will give a didactic lecture and also demonstrate the live surgical technique. In addition, reading material will also be provided to the delegates.

In addition, AIIMS Faculty (Prof PS Chandra, Dr Manmohan Singh, Dr Deepak Agarwal) will show endoscopic hemispherotomy, endoscopic corpus callosotomy, standard amygdalo-hippocampectomy for MTS, and DREZ cervical rhizotomy especially in post brachial plexus injury neuropathic pain. If time permits, DBS for movement disorders will also be demonstrated.

The workshop is a must for every Neurosurgeon who deals with Epilepsy &/or Spasticity and neuropathic Pain.
