The scope of the conference is national awareness and capacity building in terms of manpower training for the country at large. Manpower training issues as you know are a big bottleneck in developing effective trauma care and mass casualty incident systems in India. At present there is very minimal or rather no formal training programs for doctors, nurses and paramedics (pre-hospital care) for care of mass casualty incidents, this conference will help to raise the issue of lack of manpower-training in mass casualty management in India and will itself be a training program for trainers who will then disseminate this knowledge at their local levels. We have invited professional community and expecting to receive more than 500 delegate registrations, including doctors, nurses and paramedics, therefore the target audience is a mixed team of professionals interested in medical response to disaster.

The conference wishes to attain the target of increasing the awareness about the impact mass casualty on society amongst the medical professionals. It is also an effort to train the medical professionals including paramedics and nurses. This will serve as a means of capacity building and manpower training in the field of mass casualty management in India.

  1. All these Professionals will act as trainers for all their hospitals and will organize similar workshops at their local, district and State level and disseminate the knowledge they have gained from this conference.

  2. Since the conference will deliberate on medical response to mass casualty management of patients in the event of disasters, it will help these professionals make and test the hospital disaster management plans for their hospitals.

  3. Training of Nurses and Paramedics has been taken up as a priority area in this conference so that they are encouraged to become a part of the care providers team at each of the hospitals they represent.
